Ten Texts About Hell

 1. John 5:28 “Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, 29 and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.” https://www.bible.com/bible/1/JHN.5.KJV Where are all the people who have ever died? 

2. Matthew 13:40 “As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. 41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; 42 and shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.” https://www.bible.com/bible/1/MAT.13.KJV 

3. Matthew 25:41 “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:” https://www.bible.com/bible/1/MAT.25.KJV Let’s explore why this text says, “everlasting fire.” 

4. 2 Peter 2:6 “and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; 9 the Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:” https://www.bible.com/bible/1/2PE.2.KJV 

5. 2 Peter 3:7 “but the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.” https://www.bible.com/bible/1/2PE.3.KJV 

6. Jude vs. 7 “Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.” https://www.bible.com/bible/1/JUD.1.KJV Sodom and Gomorrha were burned up. They are not still burning somewhere. 

7. Malachi 4:1 “For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. 2But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. 3And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.” https://www.bible.com/bible/1/MAL.4.KJV 

8. Psalm 37:10 “For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be:

9. Revelation 20:7 “And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8 and shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. 10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” https://www.bible.com/bible/1/REV.20.KJV After one thousand years in heaven, then the earth and all the wicked will be consumed. Yes, these are the texts that people use to say that people will be tortured for all eternity, but would you be happy in a place watching a loved one suffering? What kind of a monster would God have to be if He kept people alive just to torture them? Forever, in this case, simply means as long as they live.
