Ten Texts About Trusting God

 1. Malachi 3:8 “Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. 9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. 10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.” https://www.bible.com/bible/1/MAL.3.KJV 

2. Genesis 14:20 “and blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.” https://www.bible.com/bible/1/GEN.14.KJV This is the first reference in the Bible to the word tithe.  

3. Genesis 28:22 “and this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.” https://www.bible.com/bible/1/GEN.28.KJV In this text we see that tithe means a ‘tenth’ of ones increase. 

4. Leviticus 27:30 “And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD's: it is holy unto the LORD.” https://www.bible.com/bible/1/LEV.27.KJV Sabbath is considered holy to God; tithe is also considered holy to God. 

5. Deuteronomy 8:18 “But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.”  https://www.bible.com/bible/1/DEU.8.KJV It is only by God’s grace that we have any power to get anything. When we return our tithe to God, we are acknowledging that all that we have belong to Him. 

6. Proverbs 3:9 “Honour the LORD with thy substance, And with the firstfruits of all thine increase: 10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, And thy presses shall burst out with new wine.”  https://www.bible.com/bible/1/PRO.3.KJV When we honor the Lord, He can in turn honor us. 

7. 1 Corinthians 9:13 “Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? 14 Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.”  https://www.bible.com/bible/1/1CO.9.KJV The ministers of God are to live by the tithes of the people. 

8. Deuteronomy 16:17 “every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee.”  https://www.bible.com/bible/1/DEU.16.KJV Tithe is sacred to God; our offerings are to be on top of our returning of tithe, as we are able and as God has blessed us. 

9. Luke 12:34 “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” https://www.bible.com/bible/1/LUK.12.KJV Anything that we hold on to and put above our love for God, will show where our love really lies. If we make money or things our ‘god’ then we have put those things in the place of God Almighty.
