Wherefore hidest thou thy face, And holdest me for thine enemy?

1 How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? How long wilt thou hide thy face from me? 2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul, Having sorrow in my heart daily? 5 Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not. 6 I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: Incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech. 7 Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee From those that rise up against them. 8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, Hide me under the shadow of thy wings, 9 From the wicked that oppress me, From my deadly enemies, who compass me about.

4 Thou art my King, O God: Command deliverances for Jacob. 5 Through thee will we push down our enemies: Through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us. 6 For I will not trust in my bow, Neither shall my sword save me. 7 But thou hast saved us from our enemies, And hast put them to shame that hated us. 8 In God we boast all the day long, And praise thy name for ever.
He shall reward evil unto mine enemies: Cut them off in thy truth.

1 Give ear to my prayer, O God; And hide not thyself from my supplication. 2 Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise; 3 Because of the voice of the enemy, Because of the oppression of the wicked: For they cast iniquity upon me, And in wrath they hate me. 4 My heart is sore pained within me: And the terrors of death are fallen upon me. 5 Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, And horror hath overwhelmed me. 6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! For then would I fly away, and be at rest. 7 Lo, then would I wander far off, And remain in the wilderness. Selah. 8 I would hasten my escape From the windy storm and tempest. 9 Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: For I have seen violence and strife in the city. 10 Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: Mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it. 11 Wickedness is in the midst thereof: Deceit and guile depart not from her streets. 12 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; Then I could have born it: Neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; Then I would have hid myself from him: 1 3But it was thou, a man mine equal, My guide, and mine acquaintance. 14 We took sweet counsel together, And walked unto the house of God in company. 15 Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: For wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them. 16 As for me, I will call upon God; And the LORD shall save me. 17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: And he shall hear my voice. 18 He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: For there were many with me. 19 God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God. 20 He hath put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: He hath broken his covenant. 21 The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: His words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords. 22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. 23 But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: Bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; But I will trust in thee.
Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: For they be many that fight against me, O thou most High.

O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? Shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever?
Remember this, that the enemy hath reproached, O LORD, And that the foolish people have blasphemed thy name.
Forget not the voice of thine enemies: The tumult of those that rise up against thee increaseth continually.
The enemy shall not exact upon him; Nor the son of wickedness afflict him.

Wherewith thine enemies have reproached, O LORD; Wherewith they have reproached the footsteps of thine anointed.
For, lo, thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; All the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.

Through God we shall do valiantly: For he it is that shall tread down our enemies.

Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, And let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:
If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; And if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:

Her filthiness is in her skirts; She remembereth not her last end; Therefore she came down wonderfully: She had no comforter. O LORD, behold my affliction: For the enemy hath magnified himself.
For these things I weep; Mine eye, mine eye runneth down with water, Because the comforter that should relieve my Soul is far from me: My children are desolate, Because the enemy prevailed.
Mine enemies chased me sore, like a bird, Without cause.
... there shalt thou be delivered; there the LORD shall redeem thee from the hand of thine enemies.
Thine hand shall be lifted up upon thine adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be cut off.

from henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
